stupid comics

STUPID COMICS first appeared in 1997 in Java Magazine as a one-page social/political/pop culture/satire comic strip. It continued on for a couple years in this format, gaining a loyal following and positive reviews from comic and non-comic critics alike. Eventually, Mahfood did his first collection of the strips through Oni Press in 2000. Several other one-shot collections would follow, all published by Image Comics.

In 2006, Mahfood took all the material from all four STUPID COMICS single issues and put out an ultimate collected edition of the whole thing, simply titled STUPID COMICS. Published by Image Comics.

Eventually, STUPID COMICS wound up at the Phoenix New Times as a weekly comic strip. It ran for several years and all the material was collected in 2008 for the STUPID COMICS: PHOENIX EDITION, published by Image Comics.
