In early 2015, Jim teamed-up with director and YouTube sensation Mike Diva to make a live-action/animated hybrid Pilot of the Grrl Scouts for Ron Howard’s production company New Form Digital. Based on Jim’s cult classic B&W underground comic book, the Grrls came to life in full-color, 90’s glory! Anna Akana plays Gwen, the leader. Benita Robledo is Daphne, the violent and crazy one. And Hope Harris plays Rita, the psychedelic artist. The Pilot successfully pulled off the tone and vibe of Jim’s Visual Funk universe perfectly, and received extremely positive reviews and feedback after it aired. New Form Digital is currently shopping it around, trying to find a home for it as a TV series at the appropriate network.
